Why does my website say it is Not Secure?
Google made a change to Chrome to mark websites that are not using an SSL Certificate (https://) as Not Secure. Most websites that are not allowing customers to login and not transacting business or transmitting sensitive data have no reason to be secure, but Google is encouraging all websites to now have an SSL Certificate in place to allow them to transmit all information securely. We can help you determine the right kind of certificate for you. There are free certificates available we can install for you (you only have a nominal installation fee) or a paid certificate that has advanced security verification options (which we suggest if you are doing eCommerce or transmitting sensitive data). Please contact us and we can help you determine the solution that is right for you.

Who owns my website when it is complete?
Our customers always own their own website, domain name and work we’ve done … as long as the bill is paid. Some companies will hold clients hostage; we do not. We know if we provide good service, our customers will stick with us so we don’t make them sign a contract for a certain length of time for website hosting.
-
How much does a website cost?
It depends… A website can cost as little as a few hundred dollars and go up from there. We will work to fit into any sized budget. We offer affordable low-end splash page or website template solutions or we can provide a highly customized solution to integrate with existing systems and share data. Whatever you need, we have the expertise to provide it.
We provide project based pricing there are no surprises in the development process.
We try to make our pricing as inclusive as possible, too. We don’t like to be nickeled and dimed with add-ons and extras, so we’ll never do that to our clients.
-
Do you use WordPress?
Yes, WordPress is one of the many Content Management Systems we work with and support. We can work with an existing WordPress website or we can create one. We can utilize WordPress Templates/Themes or build a custom and unique site for WordPress. We can work with the plugins off the shelf, customize existing plugins, or build custom plugins from scratch, if needed. We have worked on hundreds of WordPress sites and we are experts in delivering a customized and secure WordPress experience for our customers.
We also provide training on the WordPress platform so that you can manage and update your site easily.
-
Can I update my website myself?
Yes. When we use a content management system you are able to log in to a control panel where you will be able to make changes to your own website directly. We provide full training and we will always be available for help and support. If you don’t have the time, no sweat, we’ll update the site for you! We have different levels of maintenance plans available to give you a fixed flat very reasonable monthly fee to handle updates if you prefer. A monthly plan can be an excellent motivator for providing fresh content and updates, because most people will want to get their money’s worth! Keeping your website up to date accurately showcases your company, helps you gain credibility, and attracts more customers.
Our customers typically prefer a combination of both DIY and our support, when needed.
-
Do I have to complete redo my site or can I use what I have?
In most cases, we can work with what you have. We have worked with most standards based content management systems and we can work with you to determine what your website goals are for your company and we can generally start with the current system you have. We will absolutely work with what you have instead of starting from scratch if that is possible. This saves you money and gets your updated site completed faster in most cases.

How can I get more business from my website?
There are many ways! Our experts look at your company, your goals, what you’re doing now, where your customers are, who your competitors are, and more. We can design a simple program to locally target customers or we can develop an extensive ongoing nationwide online marketing program to attract new customers. Every online marketing program you invest in must have a positive return on investment. An increased response rate is a must for any program or we would not suggest it to you. We like to educate our clients enough to give them options that make sense and see which ones fit best with their business direction and overall company marketing plan. The web is only one piece of any overall marketing plan.

What is Drupal?
Drupal is an open source content management system similar to WordPress. Drupal is a system that can allow clients to update their own websites. It separates the structure and design of the site from the content. It allows the look and feel of the site to be updated without tearing down the site and starting over. Drupal allows for modular expansion instead of coding everything from scratch. Modules can be add things like schedules, calendars, intranets, and payment gateways without a lot of expense.

Are emails secure?
Emails are not secure by default and private information should never be sent via regular email. This would include things like health information, patient information, credit card numbers, drivers license numbers, bank account information, etc. There is a way to transmit secure emails based on either the content of the email or by noting something in the subject line to make them secure. The email then gets transmitted and requires the recipient to log in to view the email and they can respond securely as well. If this is something that might make sense for you, let us know and we can work with you to implement the right solution for your specific needs.

How can I spot a Phishing Email?
A phishing email is a fake email that looks like it is coming from a trusted source. The purpose is to get you to give out your login and password. You should never click a link in an email and enter your login and password without verifying that you are actually on the correct website and not a scam website. You will also want to look at the FROM address of the email. There may be one extra letter in it or one misspelling that is subtle, but don't just look at the from name and assume you know who it is from. Sometimes the name can be accurate but the email address is not the correct email address. Treat email attachments with caution. If you aren’t expecting the attachment, DO NOT click on it or open it. If something doesn’t seem quite right, call the company directly (not using a phone number in the email, but a phone number of the actual company seemingly sending you the email). We would be happy to help you identify anything that doesn’t seem quite right. You should be especially wary of someone asking you to purchase gift cards, wire money, or anyone that says they are deaf and asking if you take credit card payments. These are common phishing attacks.
If you are concerned with spoofing or phishing, we have some techniques we can put in place to help protect your email domain as much as possible from being used in some of these attacks. Contact us if you would like to learn more.

Should I use POP, IMAP, or Exchange?
If you want to download your mail from the server, POP is for you.
Most of our customers want to use multiple devices and keep their mail on the server so they can check their messages from any device. IMAP can achieve this for you. Your mail then resides on the server and gets backed up nightly automatically.
MS Exchange is a product that can give you a larger mailbox and allow you to share calendars, contacts, and folders within your inbox. MS Outlook is the client or it can be accessed through Outlook Web Access.
Contact us and we can help walk you through which option may be right for you.
